Jennifer Merz is a writer and collage artist who "builds" colorful, handcrafted illustrations by tearing or cutting special papers, fabrics, and trims. She loves to create pictures which capture the essence of joyful, childhood activity.

Her first picturebook, That Dancin’ Dolly (Dutton), was awarded the IRA/CBC Children’s Choice Award. Her second picturebook, Playground Day!, was published by Clarion Books.

Jennifer is a member of the SCBWI, CBIG, Graphic Artists' Guild, and the Authors' Guild. She lives in NJ with her husband and their pug, Gatsby. They have two beautiful daughters who often serve as Jenn's inspiration.
